Dean Baer decides on West Palm Beach
Dean has decided on a new location for his studio, historic West Palm Beach, Florida. “I’m certain that West Palm Beach and the natural beauty of the Florida coast line will inspire me for years to come.”

SIDE BY SIDE painting presented to a British Royal Engineer Commando

The painting, Side-by-Side, painted by artist Dean Baer was presented to Corporal Ross Austen, British Royal Engineer Commando by Azalea Charities at the National Museum of the Marine Corps in Triangle on Oct. 27.

.... Austen, 27, was serving with Commando Engineer Regiment in Afghanistan when he was injured in a Nov. 19, 2008 explosion that left him with severe leg injuries. Austen, who also served in Iraq, was on his second deployment to Afghanistan when the blast occurred. Since then he has undergone 14 surgeries, but that did not deter him from participating in this years Marine Corps marathon.
Side by Side was painted by artist Dean Baer and is a highly stylized portrayal of two soldiers, one draped in the Stars and Stripes and the other in the Union Jack. Baer completed the painting on behalf of the Azalea Charities, which is headquartered in Prince William County. To learn more about Azalea Charities, visit azaleacharities.com.

Stairway painting selected to support Links for Life fundraising

Links for Life has selected artist Dean Baer's Stairway painting to assist them with their fundraising and awareness goals.
“Stairway is my abstract expressionistic depiction of an individual’s journey in life. There are no faces or details so the viewer can connect with the journey in their own personal way.
I am honored to have this image selected by Links for Life in support of breast cancer awareness, cure and prevention. While the path or stairway is difficult, the support and resources provided by Links for Life give women hope.”

Washington, D.C. artist Dean Baer will be featured in his own exhibit at the Center for the Arts at JP Jennings, opening on First Friday downtown, May 1st. Baer has created the painting, Remember, to benefit the Kern Veteran's Memorial Foundation and the Arts Council of Kern in the "Arts in Action" events.

Baer has created a piece of art, titled “Remember,” that will be auctioned at a fundraiser for the Veterans Memorial Fund on May 30 at the Bell Tower Club. The Arts Council of Kern is pleased to host an exhibition of Baer’s works beginning on May 1 at the new Center for the Arts at JP Jennings Gallery located at 1700 Chester Avenue. Baer will be present at the reception from 5:00 to 7:00 to talk to visitors about his work. The “Remember” painting will be unveiled on this night.

SIDE BY SIDE unveiled at the British Embassy in Washington, D.C. (10/9/2008)

British Ambassador Nigel Sheinwald praised the close cooperation between British and U.S. troops as he unveiled a painting dedicated to the "military links between our two nations."
"I want to thank the U.S. armed forces for the work that they do alongside our armed forces services, both institutionally in terms of the military links between our two nations, and on a personal level for the friendship and help that is shown to us all every day by our colleagues and neighbors in the American military," he said at the British Embassy ceremony last week.

The highly stylized painting of two soldiers, one draped in the Stars and Stripes and the other in the Union Jack, is the work of Dean Baer, an artist from Prince William County, Va., on behalf of the Azalea Charities, headquartered in the Northern Virginia county, and the British Army Benevolent Fund America. Both charities help wounded soldiers.
Frank Lasch, chairman of the Azalea Charities, said, "I hope everyone ... will recognize this painting as a symbol of our appreciation to Great Britain and its troops for standing with us in the fight against terrorism."

Urban Painting donated to Radford University (10/10/08)

Artist Dean Baer contributes his Urban painting in support of the Radford University Art Gallery and Advancement.

Dean plans to further his support of Radford's University Advancement and Art Department in hopes of creating an art scholarship through sales of his work and possible publishing solution. Dean's son, Matthew, is currently attending Radford.

Freedom of Expression Painting Presented to The Marine Corps Heritage Foundation in Support of The National Museum of The Marine Corps

Quantico, Virginia - The National Association for Music Education's (MENC) Caitlin Merie Hurrey Fund and nationally known Artist Dean J. Baer collaborated to donate his Freedom of Expression painting to the National Museum of the Marine Corps/Marine Corps Heritage Foundation.
The painting was presented to the Museum January 10, 2007, by Earl Hurrey, Assistant Executive Director of MENC and retired Marine Corps, Master Gunnery Sergeant; John J. Mahlmann, Executive Director of MENC; and Dean J. Baer.
“The Heritage Foundation is extremely grateful for such a meaningful contribution that pays tribute to the U.S. Marines and attests to the Corps' courage, commitment and service to our Nation.” LtGen Ron Christmas, United States Marine Corps (Ret), President, Marine Corps Heritage Foundation.
“On behalf of MENC’s Caitlin Merie Hurrey Fund, we are delighted to contribute this painting to the Marine Corps Heritage Foundation/Marine Corps Museum as a sign of support to the men and women of the Marine Corps who have dedicated their lives to the Freedoms we enjoy,” said Hurrey.
"I am honored and humbled to have this painting on display at The National Museum of the Marine Corps… as I can think of no better place given the message this image conveys," said Baer.
The Freedom of Expression image was associated with Baer’s national Gift of Freedom project which ended December 31, 2006, a project which supported several National non-profit organizations.
The original painting is now on display at The National Museum of the Marine Corps.
